I’m sure many of you are aware of US Magazine, Threads. As well as a fabulous bi-monthly magazine, they offer a brilliant website, chock full of hints and advice, projects and patterns.
But if, like me, you’re a bit of a novice seamstress and unsure where to start, may I suggest you begin by signing up to their e-Letter? Rather than forcing you to wade through their amazing back-catalogue of content, this drops just a couple of their featured projects into your inbox for you to peruse at your leisure!
The most recent, for example, included a picture-illustrated step-by-step tutorial on How to create a lapped and embellished seam and a video tutorial from their beginner’s series Teach yourself to sew on How to sew a dart. It’s much easier to digest instructions in bitesize chunks, and this way, when you suddenly find yourself needing a new technique, you might just remember having seen it on Threads!
