Crafting with kids: felt flower brooches

Our first club workshop this year was Jo’s felt flowers workshop. My Mum is a nursery/reception teacher and, when she saw our efforts, thought they would be perfect for her class to recreate for Mother’s Day. So she started devising a redesign that would be four-year-old-friendly!

Having spent a Sunday afternoon cutting out 70-odd felt flower shapes and net circles she let the children pick their own colour combination and the option to stick a foam flower or heart in the centre. Then, she and her classroom assistant sewed safety pins on the back – and these are the finished brooches!

I bet there were some very happy mums on Mothering Sunday this year!
